It finally happened! The WDC (Western Digital) spin-off has finally completed and if you check your brokerage account that owns WDC, you might see something extra. SNDK!
One of my favorite events that happen in the investing world are spin-offs. I have a few stocks in different portfolios that have other upcoming spin-offs, but I was very excited for this one.
I’ve been using WDC hard drives (HDD and SSD) since I began building PCs in my younger years. They were and I think still are, top of the line when it comes to quality in the hard drive, solid state drive world. So when I learned that just owning WDC, you would be getting a piece of their spin-off, SanDisk , I had to jump on the opportunity.
Spin-offs are a great way to bring a piece of a company forward that might be profitable and possibly overlooked by the more memorable parts of the company. Shed the old skin of HDD’s with platters and mechanical pieces, and let the solid state and flash memory shine!

Comcast – Spinning off cable networks, including CNBC.
