Thrifty Investing
Recently, my curiosity and attention has turned to investing. When the Game Stop (GME) Reddit stock meme lords loaded their rockets and aimed for the moon, I became very curious. How could I get involved? Am I doing the right things with my money? What in the hell is a short position? Is a 401k enough?
The answer is no. An employer matched contribution 401k is not enough for the majority of us. We’ll all be working until we’re 70-75 years old and maybe we’ll have enough to live comfortable, but travel and other expenses aren’t going to be a part of that budget.
So, what can we do about it? Well, you are on the right path. Just thinking of the word investment or investing is getting you on the right path. There are so many resources now with, books, YouTube videos, Twitter, and other social media, that getting help has never been easier. These resources can help with the decisions on what is the right type of investment for you, what are the risks involved, how to get started, and how to achieve those financial goals you’ve set out for. I just want to let you know, it’s a lot to take in. There are 1,000’s maybe even 100,000’s of financial books that tell you one way is better than another, or where to put your money, but the real choice of where to put that money, is up to you. What type of risk are you comfortable with? Are you able to tie up your money for longer periods of time, something you may not be used to feeling.
Within this website, I’ll be speaking about many different topics within the investing world, including Stocks, Crypto, Bonds, ETF’s, REITs, Debt, Interest, Books I’ve Read, and the apps I use. I want to achieve financial freedom for my family and do everything in my power to retire early, with an amount my family would be happy with. We have dreams to travel (who doesn’t?) and see parts of the world we may never be able to with Corporate only vacation time.
