Acorns is a hands off approach to investing with a robo-advisor. The app has a minimalist touch to it to go along with the off hands.
If you are in the world of fintech and robo-advisors and this and that. Your head is starting to spin, just like mine. Acorns takes the headache out of all of that.
Acorns – Investing Robo-Advisor
I started using Acorns a few years ago, and just didn’t have enough follow through. Eventually I closed my account, uninstalled the app, and moved on.
The thing is, my idea of money and what my money should be doing has changed. So, I downloaded the app, signed back in, and started to get to know the old familiar.
The nice thing about Acorns, it’s not a busy app, there aren’t distractions everywhere, and mostly just the information regarding your account, or what more you could do with your account.
I start small, because I have spread money out through many applications to see which might be best for me, but Acorns is by far the easiest to incorporate.
The only problem here in the competition between investing apps and robo-advisors, Acorns charges a $1 a month fee to manage your funds. Now, you might not think $1.00 is a lot, but when you are just starting out, it can make the difference. The trick is, have enough in your account so that you make enough in a month to more than pay for the $1.00 fee, but that also takes time.
I do enjoy the minimalist feel to the app, but it’s also a downfall, as I spend the least amount of time on it. Finding information about your trades and holdings is a little clunky, but once you get used to where everything is at, it becomes a quick 1 minute check, then close down the app.
Like I said, it’s a minimalists dream app, that isn’t inundated with news, options, feature alerts, and anything else they can cram in. Instead, Acorns sticks with it’s design of simplicity, because, hey, you wanted the robo-advisor to call the shots, so let them.
If you have a bank like mine, unfortunately I cannot do the roll overs, until that is fixed, the main gimmick of Acorns, rounding up your change and adding to your portfolio doesn’t work.
I still set up a payment that feeds my account and makes sure I’m not missing out on the aggressive choices of Acorns and their brains.
