Public – Investing Application

Public – “One place for all your investing”

Public App Review

I have been using the Public investing app for over 2 years now and there is a reason why it’s still on my phone. I access it a few times a week, and regularly deposit money to buy stocks and ETF’s. They have a great process that makes it extremely easy to find the stock you are looking for, displays a ton of research information, and shows you what other users are doing, as far as buying or selling.

A really unique feature of Public is the ability to tip whenever you buy or sell. This allows the ability for the company to process trades for free, giving the novice and little investor a huge helping hand.

When I first started with Public, you could purchase a fractional share of most stocks with as little as $1.00 USD, but now they have upped it to $5.00. $5.00 USD is not much in the grand scheme of things when it comes to getting started with investing. $5 adds up quickly and before you know it, you have full shares of companies, giving you voting power, and possibly dividends.

Public has DRIP, dividend reinvestment program, where anytime you get a dividend, it automatically goes towards more shares of the company that issued the dividend. It’s a great way of capturing more and more shares of these companies. COMPOUNDING! It’s an absolute amazing thing and possibly the 8th wonder of the world!

Public makes it so easy to get started, they even offer “Lessons” where you can earn fractional shares of stocks or ETF’s. They send an update to the app, you go through the lesson, answer a few questions, and they give a $1 or $2 of a fractional share of your choice. There are usually 3 choices, and they usually deal with whatever content you are learning about.

Another huge and new feature from Public is the fact they offer the ability to put your cash into Treasuries, right in the Public app. You don’t have to create an account or deal with the Treasurydirect.gov, and instead can enjoy staying within the same app for all of your other investments. They constantly update you on the current interest rates as well.

Overall, I am extremely happy with Public and will continue to use it. I have full shares of stocks and ETF’s as well as fractional shares of stocks and ETF’s. It’s just a matter of jumping in and getting started.
